Looking to add a touch of the mechanical, ethereal and otherworldly to your productions? Matthew Mann is menaced by the machine in our review of Cyborg…. Traditionally, a soundtrack was composed with strictly orchestral instruments in mind. Composers like John Carpenter, Hans Zimmer, BT, Giorgio Moroder and others have used electronic instruments in their compositions for film and TV… forever expanding the soundtrack palette. This library combines organic and electronic elements into a swirling, evolving, mechanical whirlpool of cinematic sound. This library made me feel uneasy and concerned for my own safety in a good way. Cyborg is a Kontakt library that requires Kontakt 5 and can even be used with the free Kontakt Player again, at least version 5.

Neil Harbisson is a Catalan-raised, British-born contemporary artist and cyborg activist best known for having an antenna implanted in his skull and for being officially recognised as a cyborg by a government. The antenna allows him to perceive visible and invisible colours via audible vibrations in his skull including infrareds and ultraviolets as well as receive colours from space, images, videos, music or phone calls directly into his head via internet connection. His artwork explores identity, human perception, the connection between sight and sound and the use of artistic expression via new sensory inputs. The feedback which I received was outstanding! Some sounds are rude and imperfect — others are carefully programmed and accurate. The sound palette of Cyborg ranges from harsh and aggressive towards the Tension, mysterious, and at times obtrusively beautiful. CYBORG provides composers with a unique collection of polyphonic and looping instruments that are ideal for use in modern cinematographic dramas, adventures, action films, fantasy soundtracks, trailers, and games — a virtual set of tools, original and useful sounds, textures and effects. You need to have it on Kontakt, not Kontakt player which is the free version. There are some instruments which are Kontakt Player friendly but many high quality ones are exclusive to Kontakt. Kontakt player and Kontakt are the same thing except that certain permissions are lifted for Kontakt. The only real way to get around the demo without buying Kontakt is to bounce a track with the demo version from midi to audio within the 15 minute demo time period.
