Ben Schoon. Google Play Music is on its deathbed which means a whole lot of people are about to be forced onto YouTube Music despite issues and complaints that are still irritating early users. Google has said it will fix problems, but what are your biggest gripes? Still, it lacks feature parity with Google Play Music with some pretty obvious gaps. Speaking to ArsTechnica this week, Google confirmed that it is working to address complaints from users over YouTube Music. We understand that uploaded content is an integral part of the listening experience for many of our users across YouTube Music.
More on YouTube Music:
After using the platform for several days, here are the biggest problems we want fixing. No doubt this is one of the areas where YouTube Music will improve, but right now it all seems rather unintuitive: Not just the bits of the service you can see and interact with, but the code underpinning everything, too. Typing in names of artists, albums, or songs works well enough, but trying to filter results or narrow them down is tricky. Even if the background plumbing relies on the same YouTube library, there needs to be a clear delineation between music playlists and the other, standard YouTube playlists. One of the many areas where Spotify excels is in the way you can switch between devices. Open the smartphone app while Spotify is playing on your laptop, for example, and you get asked if you want to switch to playing the current playlist on your phone.
YouTube Music is a popular music streaming platform developed by Google. Autoplay is one of the most popular YouTube Music features. This feature allows the YouTube Music app to automatically advance to the next song and continue playing your favorite tracks. One of the first things that you can do is to log out of your Google account, restart your device and then log back in. Check if this quick workaround solved the problem and YouTube Music automatically renders the next song in the queue now. To avoid that, disable battery optimization for YouTube Music. Or you can simply enable Performance mode from Battery settings.
